But it is also
becoming increasingly and unavoidably intrusive to our personal lives. For
example, we may wake and check a Facebook notification, listen to Pandora radio
while working out, check for grocery coupons before heading to the store,
purchase a coffee with a digital gift card, check movie times to plan an
evening out, and head home to share a Skype conversation before bed.
The rise of
smartphones has created etiquette struggles not known to us less than 10 years ago,
not to the mention the incessant distraction of text messages and notifications.
Text messaging and social media applications have irreparably transformed
communication as we know it, and the intricacies are continually evolving.
Smartphone addiction is a real problem that some are not realizing. In a world
where online gossip, intrigue, and miscommunication are common, it can become a
bit overwhelming to the soul.
This is not a
new idea, but I plan to create a message technology being used to support
life-affirming, community-based values. A place to share both stories of compassion,
respect, charity, equality, love and human rights as well as provide
information to non-profit organizations making a tangible difference in the
world who represent these values. The goal is to create a soul-recharging site
to share the positive aspects of humanity.
